Let us be Entertained

Image result for elfI consider myself to be someone who is highly appreciative of the entertainment industry, be it films, series, commercials, music or novels I'm drawn to the feeling and emotions they evoke and the techniques used to evoke them.  As winter is slowly creeping in, with each day getting shorter and colder, people tend to feel more inclined to spend their days cuddled up in front of the TV watching their favorite movie or TV shows. 

Right now, most people are preparing themselves for the festive season, and the entertainment industry plays a huge part in the excitement surrounding this time of year.  TV screens are filled with commercials, artists release new holiday albums, shows contain a holiday feature and everyone's favorite holiday classics are brought back to life.  In fact Hallmark Channel released their annual "Countdown to Christmas holiday movie event" which began on October 27th and will end on January 1st 2019 airing a total of 22 original Christmas films to, according to executive producer Michelle Vicary "make viewers feel better".  

As the melodious voice of Michael Buble's popular Christmas hits become more prevalent, I can safely say 'It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas'.

End to the face of Day Time Television?

Ellen DeGeneres has been a well known public figure in the entertainment industry for quite a long time.  She didn't start out to be shed in such a positive light as she is today.  In her show 'Ellen', the start came out to public as a homosexual which wasn't taken well by members of the public, producers and directors.  She was turned down, shut out, and restricted from being the person she wanted to show to her audience.  Thankfully however, Ellen didn't let anyone stop her! Today the Ellen DeGeneres Show  is ranked as the best day time talk show . This being said however, E News recently reported that Ellen might be unsure as to how much longer her 15-year long debut on TV will continue.  This is shocking for many viewers as Ellen has managed to grow an empire.  From her mobile apps, to Ellen Tube and her range of merchandise Ellen has become a global figure who sheds nothing but positivity towards her team, her audience and her guests....

All year round companies strive to create the best adverts on the market in order to tell a story about their brand or products.  These are not only shown on TV channels but also stream our social media feeds to evoke an emotional response in the viewers.  November and December are two very important months for these adverts, specifically in the UK where companies like Sainsbury, M&S and John Lewis create some of the best Christmas Adverts of the year.  Early November, Deeside-based food firm Iceland in collaboration with Greenpeace, decided to exploit this opportunity and used their advert to raise awareness on the palm-oil industry and its' effects on the rain forest, in particular the Orangutan species entitled 'Rang-tan '.  Ironically, this Christmas advert was banned from airing on UK Television after being deemed as "too political"  by Clearcast, the NGO that decides which ads are fit to be aired on UK's four major TV networks.   The d...
